For GM / General Motors. GMPT has determined that adding a very thincoat of sealant around the OD of the rear main seal bore will greatlyenhance the seal performance. This sealant coat has a very tightspecification, and must be evenly applied. Sealant Applicator EN-48072bottoms in the seal bore before the bead of sealant is applied to thebore surface parallel to the crankshaft centerline. As EN-48072 isremoved from the bore, it leaves only the specified amount of sealant.A crankshaft extension and appropriate mounting bolts are included toensure that the applicator is square to the crankshaft. Unapproved methodscould plug the bore drain hole or fail to seal properly.
